Join the Declaration for American Democracy for the “Finish the Job: For the People” Week of Action from September 13-17.
Across the country, extremist state politicians are passing anti-voter bills making it harder for people to vote, especially for people of color. These same state politicians are now preparing to draw highly-partisan congressional maps that will effectively disenfranchise voters for the next decade.
Luckily, there is a solution. The For the People Act (S1) would protect our freedom to vote, get big money out of politics, ensure fair districts, and help create a democracy that works for all of us. Senate Republicans have refused to even hold debate on this critical legislation but Majority Leader Schumer has promised us that voting rights will be the first legislative priority when the Senate returns from recess in mid-September. We must hold the Senate accountable and demand they pass the For the People Act and let nothing get in the way, including the filibuster.
We need your help to get the For the People Act across the finish line. Join us for the week of action to demand that Senators finish the job and pass the For the People Act..
September 14th in Washington DC
Join this DC-based event outside of the Capitol to mark Senators’ return to DC and to urge them to pass the For the People Act as the first order of business, with or without the filibuster.
September 17th all across America
